Hymn 92 - I Am Coming to the Cross

Main message: Come to the cross with the need to seek Jesus.

Bible references:

  • V1. "salvation" (Psalm 13:5)

  • V2. "I will cleanse you" (Ezekiel 36:25)

  • V3. "forevermore" (Psalm 86:12)

  • V4. "I with Christ am crucified" (Galatians 2:20)

  • V5. "Save me" (Psalm 7:1)

Keywords: coming, cross, poor, blind, full salvation, heart, evil, Jesus, cleanse, sin, give, body, Thine, forevermore, promises, prostrate, Christ, crucified, trusting, Lamb, Calvary, humbly, save

Interpretation notes:

  • The hymn uses a repeated rhythmic pattern in the first and third sub-phrases: eighth-note pickup notes lead into a dotted quarter note, followed by three eighth notes and a half note.

  • The final phrase changes rhythm, using a dotted-eighth-plus-sixteenth figure before the last half note.

  • The first three sub-phrases use the same basic rhythm, while the ending phrase sets 'I shall full salvation find' and 'Wholly Thine forevermore.'

92 (Notated Score)
