Interpretation notes:
The tempo highlights the differences between death and life.
In the section describing death, the tempo is slow, the melody stays mostly in the lower register, and the rhythm uses quiet quarter and half notes.
In the resurrection section, the tempo is faster, the melody moves upward, and dotted rhythm is used.
In the last section, ‘He arose!’, the music imitates the sound of a trumpet.
The last phrase slows down on ‘Christ–Arose—!’
