  • V3. "take all my guilt away" (Psalm 51:2-7; 32:5)

"spotless" (Ephesians 5:26-27)

  • V4. "illumine my soul" (Ephesians 1:17-18)

"fill me with... spirit" (Ephesians 5:18)

"come in and take full control" (Galatians 2:20)(James 4:7)

Keywords: come into my heart, heart, weary, burden, cleanse, soul, full control, today, stay, Lord, blessed, Jesus

Interpretation notes:

  • The hymn uses a smooth, mostly stepwise melodic line.

  • The opening phrase begins with ascending thirds, and the final verse lines rise higher with more leaps.

  • One verse phrase uses only three notes and repeated Cs, creating a narrow melodic range.

  • The refrain repeats the text 'into my heart,' and the final line rises to a high D before resolving to middle C.
