Hymn 441 - I Am Resolved

Main message: Resolution (determination) to hold forth the truth in life of faith; willingness to follow Christ with unwavering resolve.

Interpretation notes:

  • The hymn uses a strong, steady rhythm throughout. 

  • A dotted rhythm appears repeatedly in the melody and helps create forward motion. 

  • Several short rhythmic motifs are supported by sustained harmony in the accompaniment. 

  • The melody outlines F over I, then Bb over IV, and returns to F over I. 

  • The chorus phrase 'I will' is set to longer note values, and 'Jesus' is also given a longer note value.
