Interpretation notes:

• This hymn has a simple, steady rhythm with legato melodic lines. 

• There is a leap of a 4th up and a 5th down in the second measure. 

• The first system of melody is repeated exactly. 

• The last line climbs with leaps of 3rds and has higher notes than the first two lines. 

• The first half of the first two systems is higher than the second half. 

• Half the congregation can sing the first half, the other half answers with the second half, and everyone sings together for the final system.
