"Blest Redeemer" (Isaiah 59:20)

  • V2. "Apple of Thine eye" (Psalm 17:8)

  • V4. "Communion" (1 Corinthians 10:16)

  • V5. "Zion" (Isaiah 2:3)

Keywords: Love, kingdom of God, house, Redeemer, saved, precious blood, church, apple of Thine eye, graven, hand, tears, prayers, cares, toils, joy, prize, sweet communion, vows, hymns, praise, truth, Zion, brightest glories, bliss of heav’n

Interpretation notes:

  • The second phrase is set higher than the first.

  • The third phrase uses mostly quarter notes.

  • The C# in the third phrase is not part of the G major key and draws attention to the words ‘saved,’ ‘eye,’ ‘giv’n,’ ‘vows,’ and ‘yield.’
