Interpretation notes:

  • The hymn uses descending melodic phrases and many half notes, including at the openings of phrases. 

  • In measure 11, a faster figure of four consecutive eighth notes appears. 

  • In measure 13, the melody leaps and then resolves back to the final tonic.
